I want to say that I was excited when I saw your product on line. I believe my expectations were reasonable for a baked product. My culinary background is extensive, so my opinion and critique should be considered educated and informed. My own evaluation was that the dough was dry, tasteless, and contributed nothing to the product beyond being an envelope for the filling. The filling was equally uninspired, dry and despite the favorable ratio of poppyseed to dough, it did not make for a successful pastry. My wife took one roll to a meeting with her friends, and the role was less than 25% eaten after partial tastes were not fully eaten. I took another roll to my office of 12 people.......I returned with 65% of the product, and did not receive one favorable comment. Essentially, the product failed in three different taste environments. I threw away over 60 percent of the 3 rolls.

Haven't had a poppyseed roll as good since my mother made them about 25 years ago. My comment is that they are not sickeningly sweet as so many others that are just pieces of pastry. Yours are hearty and bread-based. My two year old grandson loves the poppyseed "cakes" and that about sums it up.

I ordered this as a gift. I was told that the poppy seed rolls were a little disappointing in comparison to our Aunt Emilys' from Nanickoke, PA. She is no longer with us. I believe the words used were dry and crunchy. I wish I could try one for myself as I love poppyseed rolls.

Yours is the first poppy seed cake I've eaten in many years that very closely compares to my aunt's homemade one (her recipe was one passed down through the generations and was originally from Slovakia). The poppy seed filling is plentiful and of good quality, however, my aunt's was a bit "creamier". Also, her cake was a bit more moist. Overall yours is very good and I would order again.
